The Arocho Clan Update

Things are a bit nuts around here! But when isn't it?! I'm working on getting my daycare nationally accreditated. In the 6 surrounding counties, there are only TWO daycares who have done this. Now I see why. HOLY COW!

Vic has started the process of braces. Apparently it will take a while to slap them onto his teeth. A few weeks ago, he and his friends were snowtubing outside. When Lou plowed, he made some mounds here and there that after getting packed down and temp changes have turned from snow banks into ICE banks. It was a Friday night and they were having a blast outside in the "dark". I left the dining room light on because they were on that side of the house and the blinds up. It gave them enough light, but kept things dark (which I use to LOVE playing outside in the dark!). So there they are yelling, running, and throwing themselves down the hill on the side of the house. Anne and Luke were in bed and I went to my desk to make grocery lists and all that fun stuff. While at my desk, the front door opened and I hear Vic say, "Mom, I think I got hurt." I said, "Coming." But I wasn't in a hurry. There were no sounds of distress in his voice and let's face it, there's a difference between "I think I'm hurt" and "I got hurt." I walked around the corner, Vic's still by the front door with this coat and everything on. I walked over and snapped on the light and the whole side of this head was bleeding and his eye was swollen shut. I said, "You're definitely hurt." He said, "ok" and was looking like what was the hold up. I said, "Get your things off, Vic and we'll take care of you." He said "oh" and I said, "What?" He was looking to go back out and play some more. Goober. The blood was from getting scraped up (thank God), but as he sat at the table icing it with a package of peas, I realized the marks went from his eye down to his upper lip. I urgently asked, "How do your teeth feel?" He looked at me confused and said a VERY slow, "fiiiiine". I said, "Seriously. Do you think your braces are alright?" I'm such a nice mommy, aren't I?!?!?! Turned out all was alright. He had a black eye for a week, but you can hardly see it at all now. I really do hope nothing major happened to his braces, though!

Lets Give Thanks For a Major Miracle

Today a major miracle happened! A dear friend of Marie's got the gift of life. She had been waiting for a new heart for 5 months, slipping closer & closer to the time when she would not be available when a heart was found. At around 3 pm 0n November 14, she was notified that she had a heart. Today with in the body of this woman beats the heart of someone who had died tragically at a young age. So while we celebrate the new life of Barbara, we must also mourn the loss of a family member of the donor family. They suffered the untimely loss of someone special and had the foresight to respect that persons wishes to donate organs. How unselfish and loving these folks must be. I pray that God helps this family find closure and solice knowing that part of their loved one lives on in another.

What to give thanks for.

This is a great time of year and as our kids, large & small, look at the sale catalogues we should stop and really look at what we have to give thanks for. I have all the material things a girl could ask for, decent health, warm house, nice car, great kids, husband, strong faith, and lots of love of family and friends. So instead of moping around today and being all forlorn I think I'm going to pick myself up by my boot straps and say a prayer for all of those who are worse off than I, and accomplish one thing I normally wouldn't do. Have a great day.

Halloween?!!

Oh, that is just too funny that they got engaged on Halloween! Now I want details! Where were they? Was there a costume party involved? details, woman! I want details!
I just realized something today - there are only 50-something shopping days left until Christmas!! And when you take into consideration I'm surrounded by children 24/7, I hit a panic! Not to mention, I'm in the process of getting my child care through the accreditation process... so I'm swamped with a million thing. AND Vic is going to the dentist for braces so "Good-bye, you beautiful couple of thousand dollars!" Vic's mother is a LOSER and isn't contributing at all (SHOCK!) - she's barely paying the $30 a week in child support! And she called him the other day to talk about holidays coming up. Lucky for her Vic was standing there, so I had to stay nice while talking to her. I did say, "I thought you said you'd help pay for Vic's braces." She gave me a sob story about how she was unemployed. I said, "Regardless to whether or not you have a job, Vic still has needs. We see to those needs and YOU'RE supposed to help with that." More sob sob crap.. I swear she doesn't deserve him at all.
I could go on forever, so I'll spare you and stop now. Hope you all have a great day! Wish me sanity!
