The Arocho Clan Update

Things are a bit nuts around here! But when isn't it?! I'm working on getting my daycare nationally accreditated. In the 6 surrounding counties, there are only TWO daycares who have done this. Now I see why. HOLY COW!

Vic has started the process of braces. Apparently it will take a while to slap them onto his teeth. A few weeks ago, he and his friends were snowtubing outside. When Lou plowed, he made some mounds here and there that after getting packed down and temp changes have turned from snow banks into ICE banks. It was a Friday night and they were having a blast outside in the "dark". I left the dining room light on because they were on that side of the house and the blinds up. It gave them enough light, but kept things dark (which I use to LOVE playing outside in the dark!). So there they are yelling, running, and throwing themselves down the hill on the side of the house. Anne and Luke were in bed and I went to my desk to make grocery lists and all that fun stuff. While at my desk, the front door opened and I hear Vic say, "Mom, I think I got hurt." I said, "Coming." But I wasn't in a hurry. There were no sounds of distress in his voice and let's face it, there's a difference between "I think I'm hurt" and "I got hurt." I walked around the corner, Vic's still by the front door with this coat and everything on. I walked over and snapped on the light and the whole side of this head was bleeding and his eye was swollen shut. I said, "You're definitely hurt." He said, "ok" and was looking like what was the hold up. I said, "Get your things off, Vic and we'll take care of you." He said "oh" and I said, "What?" He was looking to go back out and play some more. Goober. The blood was from getting scraped up (thank God), but as he sat at the table icing it with a package of peas, I realized the marks went from his eye down to his upper lip. I urgently asked, "How do your teeth feel?" He looked at me confused and said a VERY slow, "fiiiiine". I said, "Seriously. Do you think your braces are alright?" I'm such a nice mommy, aren't I?!?!?! Turned out all was alright. He had a black eye for a week, but you can hardly see it at all now. I really do hope nothing major happened to his braces, though!
